Designed by\u00a0Holmes Miller\u00a0Architects and built by\u00a0Morrison Construction\u00a0for the Scottish Prison Service, the building\u2019s unique design is aimed at creating a calm, therapeutic environment for rehabilitation and wellbeing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 100-place establishment avoids the use of conventional, high-security custodial glazing solutions, instead opting for a more welcoming design, with visual connections to the surrounding landscape to create a sense of openness and positivity, without compromising on security and safety. There are three clear zones: a two-storey front-of-house which forms the public face of the new facility, a central hub, and residential accommodation arranged around a central garden space. Metal Technology Ltd\u2019s System 17 curtain walling, System 4-35Hi+ windows and System 5-20DHi+ doors were utilised through approved fabricator Linn-Tech Scotland Ltd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metal Technology\u2019s windows, doors and curtain walling were also specified for two recent, smaller Community Custody Units in Scotland which follow the same revolutionary approach to women\u2019s custodial buildings: The Bella Centre, Dundee (Ogilvie Construction Ltd, Oberlanders Architects, MT Fabricator \u2013 Scottech Limited) and The Lilias Centre, Maryhill, Glasgow (Ogilvie Construction, BakerHicks Architects, MT Fabricator \u2013 Scottech).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are proud to have been involved in this innovative suite of custodial buildings, which provide dedicated environments for the care of women and are designed with a clear focus on therapy, education and recovery, with practice, tools and services that are trauma informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
